Zoie Lam

Zoie Lam is an artist based in Hong Kong . As the creator of the imaginary planet Zlism, she details a world with all its residents and happenings. Positive energy oozes out from the kind-hearted characters as they come alive under her pen, all with fascinating stories unfolding in one painting after another. “ZL”is the initial of Zoie Lam while “LISM” stands for her philosophy and ideas.

Through her drawings, Zoie would like to express her ideas towards different social phenomena. Most of the artworks by Zoie Lam appear as a dense and intricate tapestry of patterns juxtaposed with vivid colours — a remarkable visual contrast for a signature style that sets Lam apart from the rest. Choosing acrylic paint and wool yarn, and occasionally oil-base marker and technical drawing pen for black-and- white effect, Lam always fills her stylistic paintings in brilliant hues and especially with florescent colours. All details are completed with refined brushstrokes and delicate lines under the fine pen tip. The canvas is then topped with hand-knitted finishing touches. Her another favorite art form is mural painting, which includes walls of shops and impromptu painting alongside real-time animation and performance. She had been invited to show case her art in Busan Art Fair, Affordable Art, Asia Contemporary Art Fair, Eslite book of Taiwan, etc. and promote arts and creativity with different institutions and companies including schools, HK Arts Development Council, Haven of Hope Hospital, CR2 903, Harbour City, Elements, PMQ, Samsung, IKEA, Vans, Converse, Levi’s, Adidas, Reebok. Black season Design lab

Black season Design lab – In the black season, fields, forests, huts, animals, silence, eternity, wildness, shouting… There are many changes and changes in life in the ruthless passage of time. We believe that design is an experiment that shuttles between real needs and aesthetics. When everything is not obvious, and the possibility of more precise truths and infinite development is hidden in the exploration, the value of aesthetics from solving basic design needs is obtained

Taniuba’s House

I am a Brazilian visual artist and print textile designer who has been living between Japan and Taiwan for over a decade. Initially, my background in arts and an interest in surface design led to work as a ceramic tiles designer in the Brazilian industry. Over time, with a scholarship from the Japanese government, I completed my graduate studies in Tokyo, specializing in patterns and print textile design, later moving to Taiwan.
When I first arrived in Tokyo, what called my attention the most was the way people used garments and body decorations in ways we don’t see in the West. For example, even though there are subcultural groups everywhere (punks, hipsters), some Japanese women wear traditional garments on a daily basis (kimono, yukata), most wear conventional western clothes and the different youth groups also have their own styles (the gyaru, lolitas, cosplayers).
From this awareness, Japanese girls and their surrounding bodily culture became my topic of research and inspiration for textile pattern design. Gradually I started paying more attention to the surrounding Nature and came up with the idea that Japanese girls are like walking, colorful flowers that spread their beauty in the city-forests they live.
From that, many analogies could be traced between the worlds of Nature and Culture. When I began observing the cultural world surrounding Japanese women, many topics emerged, such as vanity, consumption, cosmetics, and hedonism, among others. The investigation led me to question how Japanese women use their bodies to position themselves within society, either appearing neutral, beautiful, cute or even strange and ambiguous.
I understand my works as portable gardens that we carry around or use in our home, and patterns as visual interpretations of reality that allow us to interact and create emotional connections with the surrounding colors, textures, and spaces.

Gímgoânheng

“Gímgoânheng”, established in 1923, in a bungalow on Beishi Street in Tainan by the founder, Mr. Jhang, Siang. Its main business involved fabric importation, dyeing & finishing, retailing & wholesaling. During the period of Japanese rule and early Republic of China rule, “Gímgoânheng” had thrived and gradually became one of the main fabric suppliers. However, due to the transformation of both industry and consumption pattern, the business decayed, rolls of simple or vivid fabrics faded in the flow of time. After nearly a hundred years, the fourth generation of “Gímgoânheng”, who inherited the persistence in textiles and aesthetics from the ancestors, polished the sign by founding “Gímgoânheng Fabrics”, “Gímgoânheng Goods” and “Gímgoânheng Gallery”. The brand new “Gímgoânheng” practices printing fabric design, research & development of daily objects with the combination of local culture and creativity aesthetics, aiming at sustaining the spirit of “tíng-tsin” ( “persistence and concentration” in Taiwanese) of a hundred-year fabric store.
